Job Description

• Job Title: Caregiver
• Location(s): Wichita, Hutchinson and El Dorado, KS
• Position Type: Full-Time, Part-Time
• Schedule: Flexible
• Reports to: Service Manager/Scheduler
• Supervised by: Supervising RN/Clinical Director

Position Summary:

The caregiver is a member of the home care team who works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs various personal care services as necessary to meet the patient’s needs. The caregiver is responsible for personal care and support services outlined in the care plan to maintain safety and physical and emotional comfort.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

The caregiver provides hands-on personal care:

• Baths and/or shampooing hair
• Oral hygiene
• Changing bed linens
• Assisting patients with dressing and undressing
• Skin care to prevent breakdown
• Assisting the patient with toileting activities
• Nail care (cleaning and filing only)
• Assisting client in and out of bed, assisting with ambulation
• Assisting client with food preparation and feeding the client if outlined in plan of care
• Shaving (electric razor only)
• Keeping bathroom, kitchen, and living area clean and orderly to include dishes, dusting, cleaning toilet, cleaning sink, cleaning bathtub, emptying trash, obtaining mail, washing, and folding laundry, and any other light housekeeping as outlined on the plan of care
• Medication reminders only
• Errands, shopping, and attending doctor appointments as authorized by the plan of care

Position Qualifications:

• Meets the training requirements and successfully completes:
  • Competency evaluation program
• At least 18 years of age
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given
• Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision
• Empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail, and the impaired
• Demonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygiene
• Reliable transportation
