Job Description

Job Title: Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)

Reports to: Service Manager/Scheduler

Supervised by: Supervising RN/Clinical Director 

The certified nurse aide is a paraprofessional member of the home care team who works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs various personal care services as necessary to meet the patient’s needs. Further, the certified nurse aide is responsible for personal care and support services that are outlined in the plan of care to maintain the safety, physical, and emotional comfort.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities 

Responsibilities of the home health aide include, but are not limited to, the following:

Providing hands-on personal care including:

    1. Baths and/or shampooing hair
    2. Oral hygiene
    3. Changing bed linens
    4. Assisting patients with dressing and undressing 
    5. Skin care to prevent breakdown
    6. Assisting the patient with toileting activities
    7. Nail care (clean and filing only)
    8. Assisting client in and out of bed, assisting with ambulation
    9. Assisting client with food preparation and feeding the client if outlined on plan of care.
    10. Shaving (electric razor only)
    11. Keep bathroom, kitchen, and living area clean and orderly to include dishes, dusting, cleaning toilet, cleaning sink, cleaning bathtub, emptying trash, obtaining mail, washing, and folding laundry, and any other light housekeeping as outlined on the plan of care.
    12. Medication reminders only
    13. Errands, shopping, and attending doctor appointments as authorized by the plan of care. The above statements are only meant to be a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed with this job. The employee may be requested to perform job related tasks within their scope of practice and skill set other than those listed in this description.

Position Qualifications

  1. Meets the training requirements and successfully completes:
    1. Competency evaluation program
    2. Is currently in good standing on the Kansas nurse aide registry
  2. At least 18 years of age
  3. Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given
  4. Self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision
  5. Empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired
  6. Demonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygiene
  7. Licensed driver with automobile that is insured in accordance with agency requirements and
    is in good working order

Job Limitations

The certified nurse aide will not function in any manner viewed as the practice of nursing according to the state's Nurse Practice Act. Specifically, the certified nurse aide will not administer medications, pre-fill insulin syringes, or perform procedures requiring the training, knowledge, and skill of a nurse, such as sterile techniques.

COVID-19 INFORMATION

Like many of you, we at All Saints Home Care have spent the last several weeks educating ourselves about the Coronavirus (COVID-19). As the Coronavirus and its impact continue to evolve and develop, All Saints remains focused on the health and safety of our customers, employees, and communities.

During this time, we are closely following the Centers for Disease Control's (CDC) guidelines and recommendations on the steps we can take to help prevent the spread of the virus.

Effective immediately, we have implemented the following precautionary changes to our work and office operations, to decrease the risk of exposure. It is important that you are aware of these changes to avoid unnecessary travel and frustration when coming to the office.

  • Until further notice, our office staff will not be available to speak with you in person; however, all staff may be reached by phone or email.
  • All forms, including applications and timesheets, will be available in the front entryway, on the wall. All forms can also be downloaded from www.allsaintshomecare.com/forms.
  • All completed paperwork can be mailed, faxed, put in after-hour drop box next to the front door, or placed in the basket located in our front entryway.
  • Picking up your check will no longer be an option. Checks will be either direct deposited or mailed. Payroll cards will be available soon.


We will continue to closely monitor the situation as it changes and do all we can to protect you, our loyal customers, and our compassionate employees. Through these uncertain times, you can rest assured that regardless of what measures are required of us, our commitment is to continue to hold your well-being as our number one priority.
