FAQs

Questions about in-home care? We have answers.

These terms are often used synonymously as both involve care provided in a home setting. However, they are different services.

Home health is clinical care, while home care (often called “home care assistance” or “senior care”) is non-clinical care.

  • Home health care is delivered as part of a physician’s care plan. Common examples include recovering from surgery and rehabilitation from an injury. Home health may also involve learning new skills to adapt to a significant change in health status.
  • Home care involves support for daily living activities and/or personal care. This might include help around the house, help getting around, and/or help with hygiene.

There are situations when a person might need both services, but these are the basic differences between the two.

All Saints provides home care and private pay/private insurance home health care.

Most people who contact us assume they must pay out of pocket for home care. They are pleasantly surprised when they discover they may qualify for a Medicaid HCBS waiver or another home-and-community-based program!

It is much more affordable for people to get the care they need at home than in a nursing home, so many government and community programs are available to help facilitate this. We will work with you to help determine eligibility for programs.

Other options include private pay or long-term care insurance. We offer competitive private pay rates for clients who do not have long-term care insurance and/or Medicaid to cover in-home care.

We do not currently accept Medicare, but we do accept private health insurance and private pay for some covered home health services.

We know your head is probably spinning trying to figure all this out. If you need help for yourself or your loved one, just call. We’ll help you figure out the rest.

We are Medicaid-certified through the Kansas Department of Health and Human Services.

Our home care agency works with programs that are funded through the State of Kansas and the Sedgwick County Department of Aging, including:

  • Medicaid Home and Community Based Services
    • Frail Elderly Waiver (HCBS-FE)
    • Physical Disability Waiver (HCBS-PD)
    • Brain Injury Waiver (HCBS-BI)

We also participate in programs through the Central Plains Area Agency on Aging Care Act (CPAA), Older Americans Act (OAA), and more.

If you or a loved one needs home care services, please call us. We can help you figure out coverage, benefits and payment options.

If you want to hire and manage your caregiver, we can handle the payroll and billing. This arrangement is called self-directed care. Our Financial Management Services (FMS) page has more information.

Many of our clients are seniors who are aging in place, but we serve adults of all ages. People may need home care assistance or home health services for many reasons, from aging-related conditions to injuries.

Agency services are for people who need short-term or long-term care and don’t have a caregiver in mind (like a friend or family member) who they’d like to have assist them. We match the client with a staff caregiver who will become familiar with their needs and provide services regularly.

Agency caregivers are employed by All Saints Home Care.

Self-directed care is for people who already have someone — usually a friend or an extended family member — who they want to provide care. For these clients, we offer financial management services (FMS).

The caregiver is employed directly by the client. All Saints Home Care sets up required employment paperwork, state-required background checks, tax filings and payments, Medicaid billing, and payroll processing. The caregiver is not employed by All Saints Home Care.

Yes. Client safety is our top concern. Caregivers provided by All Saints Home Care are background checked before employment and before interacting with clients.

Yes, we work with our staff to ensure a caregiver is available 24 hours if needed. Depending on the client’s needs, we can work a few hours daily or longer.
